I recently spent a week doing work experience with Angel Shed, and it has been an unforgettable experience, unlike anything I've ever done before. This opportunity allowed me to see the inner workings of Angel Shed that I couldn't get from school alone.

At Angel Shed, I was able to work alongside lots of different types of people. They were incredibly supportive and willing to share their knowledge with me. I learned about various aspects of the theatre and the business that goes on behind the scenes.

One of the most exciting parts of my experience was doing front-of-house work at the theatre. This role allowed me to interact directly with the audience, check tickets, and provide information about the performances. This direct interaction helped me improve my communication skills and boosted my confidence in dealing with the public. I also needed these skills when at the Gala Performance on Thursday at Union Chapel, I went round interviewing the audience on what they thought of Angel Shed.

Additionally, Angel Shed's commitment to inclusive theatre was very different from any theatre I know. They prioritize making performances accessible to everyone, regardless of physical or cognitive abilities. I witnessed first-hand how they implement features like wheelchair-accessible seating, BSL interpreters, creative captions, and sensory-friendly performances. The amount that the Angel Shed team values inclusivity was very special to see.

Overall, my week at Angel Shed has given me a clearer idea of what I might want to pursue in the future. Being part of an organization that values inclusivity so much, even for just a week, has also inspired me to support similar initiatives in the future. The experience that I have gained from this week alone will benefit me for years to come. In the future, if I end up working in theatre (specifically set and costume), I will now think about how the set I would create is accessible to everyone.

Recently, I spent a week doing work experience at Angel Shed Theatre Company. This was a great week, where I learnt a lot about theatre and met a lot of lovely new people.

While doing my work experience here, I experienced working in an office, where I completed admin tasks and created flyers and production programmes. I also worked in a small theatre, where I worked as a volunteer, supporting the kids and giving constructive feedback on their performances.

While teaching me lots about working in a theatre they also taught me to always listen, be kind and respect everyone. Angel Shed is an inclusive theatre which accepts people of all backgrounds and abilities. I trialled participating in a Angel Shed theatre session. I straight away felt very welcomed and included. Throughout the session I learnt a lot of acting skills and made new friends. I also learned how to become a better person and always respect other people, no matter who they are or what they believe in.

This is why I decided to do my work experience at Angel Shed Theatre, as I believe that the staff are always hard working, they have a great ethos and they have successfully created a lovely environment for kids to strive in.
